Cutting a mango
There are many ways to get the flesh out of a mango, but what is the best way to cut a mango? This depends on the shape you want the mango to be when you serve it and what kitchen utensils you have at hand.
Before you cut a mango, it is important to know that the mango is a stone fruit and there is a long oval shaped inedible stone in the middle of this fruit.
Slicing a mango with a special mango slicer
EAT ME has developed a handy mango slicer, which you can use to easily remove the stone and cut the mango in half. Use the mango slicer as follows:
- Take a ripe mango and set it upright with the stalk at the bottom.
- Place the mango slicer on top of the mango so the oval shape of the slicer is positioned the same way the fruit is.
- Push the mango slicer down in one easy motion.
- Now you can either use a knife or a spoon to remove the flesh from both halves.
Cutting a mango with a knife
If you don't have a mango slicer, but you do want to cut a mango. Then you can remove the stone and cut the mango in half as follows:
- Take a ripe mango and put it down with the stalk facing towards you.
- Use a knife to cut alongside the stone to get two long pieces.

Cut the mango into cubes or slices
How to cut the flesh from the two mango halves depends on whether you want cubes or slices.
Would you like mango cubes? Cut the flesh of the mango halves vertically and horizontally. Then turn the mango halves inside out and simply slice the mango cubes from the skin. You can also score the mango halves vertically and horizontally, without turning them inside out, and then use a spoon to remove the cubes.
Do you need mango slices? Then only cut the flesh vertically and scoop it out of its skin.
