There are several ways to get the flesh out off an avocado, but what is the best way to cut an avocado? This depends on the shape you want the avocado to be when you serve it and what kitchen utensils you have at hand.
Before you cut an avocado, it is important to know that the avocado is a stone fruit and there is a round, inedible stone in the middle of this fruit.
Cutting an avocado with a special avocado cutting tool
EAT ME has developed a handy avocado slicer, which you can use to easily halve the avocados, remove the stone, cut and take the flesh out. You use the avocado slicer as follows:
- Take a ripe avocado. Cut the avocado all the way around, going as deep as the stone.
- Twist to separate the two halves.
- Place the teeth of the avocado slicer around the stone and pull it from the flesh.
- Then cut some strips in the seedless flesh, without cutting through the skin. Cut also in the opposite direction, so that cube shapes appear.
- Remove the cubes by using the round side of the avocado cutter.
Use a knife to cut an avocado.
If you don't have an avocado slicer? Then you can remove the stone and slice the avocado in half using a knife as follows:
- Take a ripe avocado. Cut the avocado all the way around, going as deep as the stone.
- Twist to separate the two halves.
- Remove the stone with a spoon.
- Peel the avocado and scoop the flesh out.
Cut into cubes or slices
How to cut the flesh from the two sliced avocado halves depends on whether you want cubes or slices. Would you like avocado cubes? Cut the flesh of the avocado halves vertically and horizontally. Then spoon the avocado cubes out. Do you need avocado slices? then only cut the flesh vertically and scoop it out of its skin.
